Pundit Shaka Hislop has praised Julian Alvarez and what he’s done at Manchester City.
The striker recently played a big part in City’s 4-0 win over Fluminense in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup by scoring two of the four goals on the night.
This then led to the Argentine being the topic of conversation in the media, with one pundit sharing his praise for what the attacker has done on the pitch during his time at the Manchester club.
Hislop hails Alvarez

Speaking in a recent video shared on the ESPN FC YouTube channel, Hislop had this to say about Alvarez.
He said: “Jan [Aage-Fjortoft] just described Alvarez as a perfect player and I cant disagree with that.
“I mean not just for his contributions on the park but where else can you find somebody with his quality who understands that when Pep Guardiola decides to play one up front when everyone is fit, it’s going to be Erling Haaland, but here we are talking about a World Cup winner.
“And every time Pep Guardiola calls on him, whether it’s up front on his own or part of a two or playing somewhere else maybe in a three, he has been outstanding every single time he’s been called on.
“So, to Jan’s description, that’s exactly the kind of player every team needs, one that you can rely on regardless of what he’s asked to do, when he’s asked to do it and then with the kind of pedigree that he inevitably brings.
“It must be a joy to work with [him] from a coaching perspective and from a teammate perspective, a joy to have in your dressing room.”
City struck a deal to sign the striker from River Plate for £14m during the 2022 January transfer window before he eventually arrived at the Etihad Stadium in the following summer.
Since then, the Argentina international has made 75 appearances for Guardiola’s side across all competitions, scoring 27 goals and delivering 14 assists along the way.
Having played in numerous positions during his time at City, this backs up Hislop’s point about Alvarez’s versatility making him a very useful figure for the team, especially when he offers such a threat in terms of scoring and creating goals.
Even though the striker has already proved himself to have been a top signing for the Manchester club, if he can fire them to more silverware this season, he’ll undoubtedly be seen as one of the best attacking players in Europe.
