Owen Hargreaves has spoken highly of a Manchester City player he feels will be the “surprise of the Premier League this season“.
Manchester City had a busy summer on the transfer front, signing a multitude of top talents in order to bounce back from a difficult 2024/25 campaign.
City then enjoyed a wonderful start to the new season, running out 4-0 winners over Wolves to go top of the fledgling Premier League table.
Owen Hargreaves, along with Peter Crouch and other pundits, spoke on TNT Sports about the biggest signings among Premier League clubs so far this summer.

Rayan Cherki was among the players up for debate as the most high-profile Premier League signings so far this summer.
Hargreaves gave Cherki a 9 out of 10 rating and said: “Cherki’s going to be a 9. He’ll be the surprise of the Premier League this season.”
Likewise, Crouch went with a 9 and said: “If you haven’t seen him play you’re in for a real treat, I think 9 out of 10.”
Finally, TNT Sports host Darren Fletcher said: “I’m going to give Cherki a 9. Hardly cost anything, super talented, Pep Guardiola’s going to love him.
“He’s in a team that’s going to create a lot, he’s going to be the chief creator.”

What Pep Guardiola said about Rayan Cherki after 4-0 win over Wolves
Pep Guardiola had plenty of reasons to be proud after City’s 4-0 hammering of Wolves on the opening day of the season.
Guardiola sung the praises of both Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders after the game at his press conference.
“Tijji gives us something… you miss it, having incredible pace to the box and the talent from Cherki is unbelievable,” Guardiola told reporters.
“The small spaces, the creativity, the final third is extraordinary and sometimes in certain games, we’ll need him.”
