Pundit Pat Nevin has snubbed Rodri in his Premier League Team of the Season, choosing Casemiro ahead of the Manchester City star.
The Citizens secured their fifth league title in six years earlier this month after seeing Arsenal drop enough points to see them miss out on getting their hands on the trophy.
With the Gunners finishing second, five points behind Pep Guardiola’s side, the remaining two spaces in the top four went to City’s close rivals United and Newcastle United.
Now that the league season has drawn to a close, pundits have been sharing their thoughts on which players have stood up against the rest and deserve a place in their Teams of the Season.
However, it has been revealed that one of City’s prominent players has found himself getting snubbed in place of one of United’s figures.
Nevin picks Casemiro over Rodri

Speaking in a recent video on the Off The Ball YouTube channel, Nevin had this to say when going through the midfield area of his Team of the Season.
He said: “For the midfield, I’ve given you [Kevin] De Bruyne, [Martin] Odegaard in the centre, [Ilkay] Gundogan on the left.
“On the right-hand side, I’m going to change it at the last second, I’m going to move De Bruyne out wide and I’m going to bring Casemiro in. It could have been Rodri.”
Looking at the two midfielders’ individual campaigns, the Spaniard ended the season with a significantly higher passing accuracy percentage (91.2% vs 77.5%) than the Brazilian, with more progressive passes played (260 vs 152).
Despite having a lower combined total of tackles and interceptions than Casemiro (100 vs 123), Rodri has made more progressive carries (76 vs 14) than him as well as making more recoveries (301 vs 206) and having a higher percentage of aerial duels won (69.2% vs 65.1%).
So while it may be argued that the United midfielder has been better than the City star from a defensive point of view, there are more areas of the game where Rodri has eclipsed Casemiro.
