Manchester City fans have reacted in anger after Ederson suffered an injury during the Premier League clash against Newcastle.

Well, the Manchester City fans are livid after Ederson was forced off with an injury – but the bulk of their frustration comes due to the fact Alexander Isak was quite clearly offside before the collision occurred with Sean Longstaff.
Linesmen are instructed to keep their flags down until the phase of play has ended, even if there is a clear offside – just in case VAR spots something that means any potential goal should stand.
Pep Guardiola had already lost John Stones to injury in a similar incident a few weeks ago after the England international damaged his foot in a coming together with Beto against Everton, during Manchester City’s 3-1 win at Goodison Park.
The Portuguese striker was evidently offside, but play was allowed to continue, and the Manchester City No.5 ended up injured as a result.
Now – after Guardiola lost Ederson to this controversial offside ruling as well – the Manchester City fans are furious.
While we can understand the frustration, supporters would presumably be even more livid if linesmen ever halted a perfectly legal phase of play and stopped Guardiola’s side from scoring a goal – which is effectively why the rule is in place.
One described the rule as “pathetic” as another admitted they are “so mad” at what happened to the Brazil international on Tyneside.
A third supporter claimed it is a “stupid rule” after Ederson joined Stones in the treatment room.
