Manchester City have their second away match of the 2024/25 Premier League season this weekend.

Following on from last weekend’s 4-1 win against Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium, the Blues will be taking on West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday.

In the buildup to this match in the capital, one pundit and former top-flight star has shared his verdict on how this latest match for Pep Guardiola’s side could go.

Paul Merson drops score prediction for Man City vs West Ham

In a recent column for Sportskeeda where he previewed and predicted the scores for all of this weekend’s Premier League fixtures, Paul Merson had this to say about City’s match against the Hammers.

He said: “This is a difficult game for Manchester City. West Ham have enough talent going forward and I think they will cause problems to the reigning champions.

“If City are forced to play without Rodri again, this can prove to be a tough test.

“Irrespective of whether Jeremy Doku or Savinho plays for City, Aaron Wan-Bissaka will have an exciting battle to deal with in the wide areas – definitely something to keep an eye on.

“I’m backing City to win, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this ends in a draw. 0-2.”

City will aim to keep their winning streak going against West Ham

After losing 2-1 to Aston Villa at home, the Hammers secured a 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace last weekend.

In his latest press conference, Guardiola said that Phil Foden is likely to be the only player to be unavailable for City’s match against West Ham.

Having seen City score six goals across their two opening matches of the campaign, it’s easy to see why Merson has backed the champions to grab their second away win of the season against Julen Lopetegui’s side.

With the Blues at the top of the table heading into the third week of league fixtures, they will undoubtedly be aiming to keep their winning streak going.
