After Manchester City beat Luton Town 2-1 on Sunday, Pep Guardiola provided an update regarding the injury suffered by Erling Haaland.

Before the contest, it was rightly reported that the Norwegian superstar was set to be unavailable for the clash, as he ended up not making the cut in his side’s matchday squad as well.

After City bounced with a win at Kenilworth Road, Pep Guardiola revealed when the Leeds-born goalscorer (via Manchester Evening News journalist Simon Bajkowski) could be fully fit.

While several Sky Blues players have been up and down in terms of their displays this season, the same cannot be said for Haaland.

With 19 goals in all competitions this campaign, the 23-year-old is having another impressive season for Manchester City.

Now, Pep Guardiola has revealed the extent of the injury sustained by Erling Haaland.

“Stress [on the] bone. Stress. Just stress. Please don’t ask that his foot is broken. It’s just stress bone.”

“It’s not a fracture, just a stress on the bone, hopefully, [he] can be ready against Crystal Palace, if not, then Saudi Arabia [for the Club World Cup].”

“The day after Villa, he could almost not walk properly. Yesterday, I spoke to him saying, ‘I feel much better, I can walk, I have no pain’, that’s why we have to see how he is day by day.”

“Week-by-week will dictate how he feels.” Guardiola concluded, as quoted by Manchester Evening News journalist Simon Bajkowski.

The best possible news about Erling Haaland

Manchester City fans worldwide would have breathed a sigh of relief as it seems like the injury that stopped Erling Haaland in his tracks is far from serious, as per Pep Guardiola.

If the treble-winner was set to be sidelined for weeks, it is safe to say that City would have been in deep trouble.

As brilliant a striker as Julian Alvarez is, he still has quite a lot of developing to do, as opposed to Erling Haaland, who is arguably the best player in the world in his position.

However, it seems like Haaland could even return to proceedings against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

With Manchester City hoping to improve their performances and results during the second half of the season, they cannot afford to lose their key man up front on a long-term basis.
