Manchester City have been dealing with multiple injury issues this season.

Despite having a lot of players out injured, City headed into their final game of October still unbeaten across all competitions.

However, their unbeaten streak came to an end as Tottenham Hotspur secured a 2-1 win over Pep Guardiola’s depleted side in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

With City already having players out injured, they were hit with two fresh blows in their latest midweek match.

Following the match against Ange Postecoglou’s side, the City boss shared some important details about the two particular players from his squad and what the current fitness situation is with them.

Pep Guardiola discusses double injury blow after Man City vs Tottenham

With Manuel Akanji initially named in the starting XI, the defender had to pull out with an injury problem in the warm-up.

When asked about this in his post-match press conference, Guardiola shed some light on what happened with the centre-back.

He said: “In the last action, felt something in the muscular part of his body and today in the warm-up he didn’t feel good. He said, ‘No I can take a risk’, and I said, ‘No, no risk.'”

In the second half of the match, Savinho was stretchered off with a suspected injury, adding further concern to the club’s already significant fitness issues.

On what happened with the winger, Guardiola gave this insight.

He said: “He had a knock in the 18-yard box, potential penalty, and we’ll see tomorrow what happened. We have to see if it [was] just a knock or something else because it was on the bone.

“Hopefully it’s nothing dangerous, but we’ll see tomorrow.”

Who could City have missing for their next match?

Saturday sees the Citizens turn their attention back to the Premier League as they’ll be making the trip down to Bournemouth for their latest meeting with the Cherries.

Assuming Akanji and Savinho will be unavailable for this game due to the problems they now have, they’ll be joining these players on the sidelines.

With that in mind, City have a lot of injury issues to be dealing with for the next few weeks.
