Pep Guardiola has hailed Julian Alvarez, describing the Manchester City star’s goal against Fulham today as ‘extraordinary’.
City have gone top of the Premier League after a 2-1 win over the Cottagers.

Erling Haaland got the ball rolling from the penalty spot after Tim Ream fouled Alvarez.
Fulham got back into it when Carlos Vinicius scored after a great play from Harry Wilson.
But City went back in front with Alvarez scoring an absolutely superb goal.
The star produced a dipping, curling effort right into the top corner, which was something right out of the Kevin De Bruyne catalogue.
Alvarez was in the starting XI today as the Belgian’s replacement. De Bruyne missed out through injury, and fans are waiting for word about when he could return. Guaridola said before today’s game that he didn’t know when that would be just yet.

Alvarez always plays well when he comes into the side and today was no different.
He was everywhere for City, channelling his inner Carlos Tevez. And for the goal, he channelled Sergio Aguero.
Speaking after the game, Guardiola hailed the £14 million South American. He said (BBC Sport Live, 30/04, 4:37pm): “He made the penalty, not just the goal. Every time he plays it’s massive. Today the goal was extraordinary. We have incredible striker honestly.”
Julian Alvarez is too good not to be a regular starter, as star shines against Fulham
Not only was the goal outstanding from Alvarez, but his whole performance was just excellent.
Haaland has been grabbing headlines since he arrived at the Etihad Stadium with his goalscoring exploits, and that has allowed what Alvarez has been doing to go under the radar.
Every time he comes into the team he impresses.

He is superb on a technical level, but he also has the work rate to boot. His pressing of the Fulham defence today was magnificent.
He is 15 goals up now for the season, which is a remarkable return considering he has had to play second fiddle to Haaland and co.
Hopefully, his game time will pick up significantly next season.
