Is Pep Guardiola leaving Man City?

Nothing has yet been confirmed but reports suggest Pep Guardiola will depart Manchester City after the 2024/25 season.

It was reported by the Daily Mail on May 26, 2024, that Guardiola is β€˜set to leave’ the Etihad Stadium at the end of his current contract which expires in 2025.

It’s said City would love for him to stay but β€˜have fear’ his ninth season will be his last.

When will Guardiola make a decision on leaving City?

The latest reports suggest City want Guardiola to have made a decision by Christmas, which isn’t as far away as it sounds.

There is still hope he could extend his contract, but it’s stated he is leaning towards leaving the club following the conclusion of the newly expanded FIFA Club World Cup in 2025.

GRV Media’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey told MCN: β€œWe’re hearing lots, we’ll find out by Christmas time we should know whether he’s signed or not but it wouldn’t surprise me if it goes up until Easter.

β€œI think the good thing for City fans is that he’s embracing this competitiveness that Liverpool and Arsenal are bringing to the table. I think that really helps City’s quest to keep him. It’s keeping him interested, he’s got something to really battle with and to have that chess game with someone.

β€œI think if he does stay that’ll be the reason why, he loves pitting his wits with Arteta as we’ve seen. I think Liverpool we’ll really gauge over the next six weeks I think they’ve got a hard run of games coming, is this team as good as people think they are?

β€œAnd if they are, that three-way battle for the title might be enough to keep Pep interested.”
