Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will be hoping that Kevin De Bruyne becomes available for selection sooner rather than later as his team are currently facing an injury crisis.
On Wednesday, Guardiola addressed De Bruyne’s injury by admitting that it was more “complicated” than he initially reckoned and that he still feels pain while kicking a ball.
Upon returning from injury last season, De Bruyne demonstrated why this Manchester City juggernaut remain a better side in his presence.
The Belgian international registered an impressive six goals and 17 assists in 20 appearances across all competitions.
Pep Guardiola would privately be satisfied that City are managing to get results in the 33-year-old’s absence.
Barring Manchester City’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup, they have managed to go unbeaten in De Bruyne’s absence across all competitions.

Pep Guardiola says Kevin De Bruyne is “getting better” from his injury
During the 2023/2024 campaign, City managed to remain in the Premier League title race with Arsenal and Liverpool in the treble-winner’s absence.
Once the midfield maestro returned to the side, Guardiola and Co. became even more potent as a team.
Ahead of Manchester City’s upcoming trip to the Vitality Stadium to face AFC Bournemouth, Pep Guardiola has revealed that De Bruyne’s injury is starting to feel better.
Guardiola said via HaytersTV: “He’s getting better, yeah. Last two, three, four days, the doctor said to me, ‘he] make a step’, step forward in terms of pain.”
Manchester City fans are worried about the club’s list of injuries — with De Bruyne, Rodri, Oscar Bobb, Kyle Walker, Savinho, Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish all suffering knocks.
Micah Richards hailed De Bruyne by claiming that he had kickstarted the 2024/2025 season as well as Erling Haaland had.
Pep Guardiola lauded De Bruyne as well due to how positively he had started the campaign.
Guardiola has already revealed whem De Bruyne will be back
Guardiola recently revealed that Manchester City’s vice-captain should be fit after November’s international break.
The Catalan tactician said via BeanymanSports: “If he doesn’t come back as quick as possible, we will struggle because we cannot sustain it with 14 or 15 players, but it is what it is.
“We need players to come back but it is what it is. Hopefully that can happen after the international break.”
Now that Guardiola has been told De Bruyne feels better would encourage him and Manchester City fans worldwide.
The Premier League winners seem like they have no intention to rush the decorated midfielder into returning to full fitness.
Once De Bruyne is fit and ready to return to the pitch, it seems like he will be pain-free and prepared to kick into gear once again, which is ideal for Pep Guardiola.
