The Spaniard was replaced by Kalvin Phillips after seemingly struggling with his knee.

But the midfield maestro has no issues. Guardiola said (via journalist Simon Bajkowski): “He will be ok on Wednesday.”

City ran out 3-0 winners over Everton, with Ilkay Gundogan grabbing two amazing goals, and Erling Haaland also scoring.

City have their biggest game of the season so far next week, with Real Madrid coming to the Etihad Stadium for the second leg of the Champions League semi-final.

The tie is all square at 1-1, and City are looking to beat the Spanish giants to make a second final in three seasons.

Key to getting a result on Wednesday will be Rodri being at his brilliant best.

The 26-year-old is perhaps City’s most important player, and is trusted wholeheartedly by Guardiola. That much is evident in how much he has featured for City this season.

He will be vital in terms of providing cover for the centre-backs against the likes of Luka Modric and Eduardo Camavinga. But also in building attacks from deep.

It is essential that he plays on Wednesday.

Watching him go off today was worrying. But thankfully, it seems he’s fine and he’ll be playing against Real as expected.
