Pep Guardiola has said that Stefan Ortega will start in goal for Manchester City in tomorrow’s FA Cup final.
Having brought an end to their latest Premier League title-winning campaign, the Citizens now have the chance to add two more trophies to their cabinet before the season ends.
First up is Saturday’s showdown against Manchester United for the FA Cup, which will then be followed by the Champions League final against Inter Milan in Istanbul next weekend.
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s match at Wembley Stadium, Guardiola has already confirmed that one player will be in his starting XI to take on the Red Devils.
Guardiola says Ortega will start against United
Speaking in his latest press conference, the Spaniard said this about Ortega.
He said: “Yeah he’s going to play. It’s always been the same in the cups, even with Barcelona and [Bayern] Munich, so he’s going to play in the FA Cup.”
Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium from Arminia Bielefeld last summer on a free transfer, the 30-year-old has made 13 appearances for the Manchester club across all competitions, keeping nine clean sheets in the process.

In fact, having featured in all of City’s five FA Cup games leading up to the final, the German saved all eight shots he faced, highlighting how much of a capable goalkeeper he is.
Having also played in two of City’s final three league games of the campaign, Ortega has a sufficient amount of recent game time under his belt to be fresh for tomorrow’s final.
Moving forward, having only conceded six goals this season, we feel that the shot-stopper more than deserves his place in the starting XI tomorrow.
Even though he’s had to play second fiddle to Ederson, having the opportunity to help the league champions pick up their second trophy of the season and take them a step closer to potentially winning the treble, will be an exciting prospect for the summer arrival.
