Manchester City were dealt an injury blow during last weekend’s Premier League match against Arsenal.
In the first half of their 2-2 draw with the Gunners at the Etihad Stadium, Rodri was forced off the pitch with a suspected knee injury.
It was then revealed by the club on Wednesday in a post on their website that the midfielder had suffered ligament damage although more tests were needed to determine the full extent of the issue.
The Spaniard had only made three appearances for City after having spent the first few weeks of the season recovering from a hamstring issue.
Now though, Pep Guardiola has shared some fresh details about the midfielder and when he could be likely to make a return to action.

Pep Guardiola shares Rodri injury update
Speaking in his recent press conference (via Man City) ahead of Saturday’s Premier League match against Newcastle United, Guardiola had this to say about Rodri and his injury.
He said: “Good surgery this morning, ACL and some meniscus. So next season he will be here. This season is over.
“Yeah, unfortunately, he got the worst but it is what it is. At this level it happens, we’re here to support his recovery step by step and move forward.
“When you have an ACL and you are out for eight or nine months, the year after you have muscular problems. That’s why it’s longer.
“I think Rodri will come back to his best after not just eight or nine months, but it is what it is. As a club, we have magnificent players and we will find a solution.”
Who do City have to replace Rodri?
Having started all of the 50 games he appeared in for City last season, this highlights how much of a prominent figure Rodri is for the Blues and why he’ll be a big loss for them throughout the remainder of the season.
In terms of who Guardiola could turn to as a potential solution, in addition to having other midfielders such as Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan and Matheus Nunes in the squad, the City manager has also used the likes of Rico Lewis, John Stones and Manuel Akanji in midfield positions previously.
In fact, Stuart Pearce recently backed using Stones in midfield as a suitable way Guardiola can replace Rodri.
Either way, as Guardiola has now said, everyone at the club will have to do all they can to find the right solution for this particular problem and keep winning as many games as possible.
