Manchester City are back in Premier League action on Sunday following the latest international break.

For their fourth away match of the campaign, City will be travelling to Molineux to take on Wolves.

Across their seven played league games, Pep Guardiola’s side have won five and drawn two, leaving them in second place with 17 points on the board.

With Gary O’Neil’s side currently sitting at the bottom of the league table, the Blues will be aiming to keep their unbeaten streak going on Sunday.

Ahead of this clash, the City manager shared an injury update concerning two players from his squad who have been out of action for the past few weeks.

Guardiola issues injury update on Ake and De Bruyne

Speaking in his latest press conference (via Man City), Guardiola gave this update on the current fitness of Nathan Ake and Kevin De Bruyne.

He said: “I don’t think so. No. Not ready. They are training and in the last part and yesterday Nathan did his first training with the team. Maybe can travel but to start is not ready.”

How long have Ake and De Bruyne been out injured for?

Ake picked up a muscle injury during September’s international break which led to him being stretchered off in the middle of the Netherland’s 2-2 draw against Germany.

As for De Bruyne, he suffered a similar issue during City’s 0-0 draw with Inter Milan in the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium last month.

While the duo unlikely to feature in Sunday’s showdown with Wolves, who beat City 2-1 at Molineux last season, it’s positive to hear that Ake could be well enough to at least travel with the squad.

Even though the Blues are yet to lose a game in any competition this season whilst dealing with the absences of De Bruyne and Ake as well as Rodri and Oscar Bobb, they will undoubtedly need as many players fit for as long as possible if they want to pick up more trophies this season.
