Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly still an admirer of Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze.

Towards the end of the recent summer transfer window, the Manchester club were linked with a move for the Englishman.

With the Palace star having a £70m price tag put on him, the Citizens ended up landing a deal worth £53m for Matheus Nunes from Wolves.

Now though, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding the England international.

According to a recent report from Team Talk, Guardiola is still an admirer of Eze, who Palace are trying to tie down to a new contract in an effort to stop City from making a transfer move for the midfielder during the upcoming January transfer window.

Since arriving at the south London club back in the 2020 summer transfer window from Reading, the 25-year-old has scored 16 goals and delivered 13 assists in 99 appearances across all competitions.

To highlight what sort of talent Eze has, his Palace teammate, Joel Ward, had this to say about him back in May.

He said: “Ebs’ quality is incredible, with what he does on the ball, the way he manipulates it and the way he just seems to glide over the pitch – it’s mesmerising at times.”

This makes it easy to see why City were linked with a move for the midfielder in the summer and why Guardiola still has his eyes on the player, despite Palace reportedly looking to tie him down to a new contract at Selhurst Park.

Moving forward, it’ll be interesting to see if the treble winners look to make a move for the Palace star again in the future, regardless of whether or not he signs a new deal at his current club.
