'Written in the stars': Pep Guardiola says Vincent Kompany is destined to manage Man City one day

Pep Guardiola has predicted Burnley boss Vincent Kompany to become the manager of Manchester City in the future.

The Belgian legend has done nothing short of a sensation job at Turf Moor, with his side sitting pretty at the top of the Championship with a 12-point lead.

In his latest press conference, Pep Guardiola has said that Burnley manager Vincent Kompany will return to Manchester City one day.

As Manchester City aim to claw back the 5-point lead that Arsenal currently have over them against Newcastle United, Pep Guardiola explained why he thinks Vincent Kompany will become the manager of Manchester City eventually.

“I think all of us as [Manchester City] fans will be happy for him to be back. He will be back sooner or later, so I think his destiny is to become a manager of Man City it is written in the stars. It is going to happen I don’t know when but it will.”

“I said sooner or later, he will be manager for City, when I don’t know but I am pretty sure. No [I have not spoken to him about it]. It is my feeling, maybe I am wrong. His work ethic, knowledge of the game, a lot of respect, experience doing what he has done is so difficult and he is doing it really, really well. He knows the club, the environment, our fans and what our people need. The destiny is there”, he told Manchester Evening News’ Jack Flintham.

At one point, it seemed like Mikel Arteta was destined to manage the club, as the current Sky Blues boss admitted himself.

But the fact that Pep Guardiola has been so open about Vincent Kompany taking over the Manchester City job in the future is also an insight into how much he rates the job he has done at Burnley.

Otherwise, one doubts the usually diplomatic Catalan tactician to tip any individual to potentially even succeed him.
