‘Pep has ruined Grealish’: Fans react to Manchester City star’s England display vs Australia

Jack Grealish is a maverick.

The Manchester City attacking midfielder was one of the most watchable players when he was at Aston Villa.

Jack Grealish glided with the ball and got past players with ease.

The 28-year-old was a very good dribbler during his time at Villa.

At Manchester City, Grealish is not the ‘main man’.

The England international does not get to dribble with the ball as much as he did at Villa.

In fact, Grealish does not even have the ball at his feet as much as he did at Villa.

At City, who won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season, the emphasis is more on passing to teammates and playing as a ‘team’.

Grealish’s game has changed somewhat at City.

England fans react to Jack Grealish display vs Australia

And, as you can see below, some England fans are disappointed.

Some England fans were not too happy with the way Grealish played against Australia in a friendly international at Wembley Stadium on Friday evening, blaming City manager Pep Guardiola for his apparent failure to thrill the fans.

Grealish started the match for England against Australia.

The 28-year-old attacker was deployed on the left of an attacking midfield-three in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Grealish provided the assist for Villa striker Ollie Watkins’s goal in the 57th minute.

The City star came off just four minutes later.

My View: Jack Grealish more of a team player now

I do not think that Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish played particularly well against Australia.

I noticed that Grealish could not beat his man and was often playing the ball backwards.

Yes, the attacker got an assist, but I believe that he will be disappointed overall with his performance.

Having said that, I have to stress that Grealish has become more of a team player at City.

At Villa, Grealish did all the dribbling and the creative job because he ‘had’ to.

There were not many players at Villa who could be the creative force that Grealish was.

City have many players who are better than Grealish.

Under Pep Guardiola, the England international has learnt to be a team player.
