On paper, Manchester City’s clash against Inter Milan seemed like a game for the ages.
Both clubs were involved in a Champions League final in 2023 and as a result, there was history between the pair of European giants.
Manchester City and Inter Milan are arguably two of the best teams in Europe – which perhaps led many to believe they would serve up one of the most exciting games of the competition.
However, that was far from the case as the Etihad Stadium was witness to a 0-0 draw.
Both teams had gilt-edged chances to take home the all-important three points but the quality on display did manage to underwhelm.
With the format of the Champions League still being fresh for all the teams in the competition, perhaps there is a slight confusion between the camps on how to approach the initial games.

Schmeichel slams one thing about Man City after Inter Milan draw
On one hand, teams would like to start strongly and win their first game.
However, due to the league phase being in motion, City, for instance, could also feel that a potential defeat could be catastrophic to their chances of qualifying in the top eight to reach the last-16.
Furthermore, teams are yet to discover the number of points they would usually need to qualify amongst the eight best teams to automatically reach the last-16.
As a result, there might have been a shared attitude amongst Pep Guardiola and Simone Inzaghi’s sides about being too scared to lose on Wednesday night.
Both teams will likely approach their next game in Europe’s elite competition with a laser-focus mindset of winning at all costs.
Peter Schmeichel slammed the atmosphere at the Etihad Stadium after Manchester City drew to Inter Milan.
Schmeichel said on CBS Sports: “I thought it was a really, really boring game. I thoght Inter did really well in stopping Man City.”
“I like good football and I like excitement from the crowd, tt was dead. The Etihad today was absolutely dead. The only people we could hear were the Inter supporters. But there was no atmosphere in the Etihad today.”
“Normally, you’d think, well, big European night but it didn’t happen today.”
It seems like a key reason behind the subdued atmosphere was due to the empty seats at the stadium.
According to MCFC Fans Foodbank Support on X, the exorbitant ticket prices for the contest led to many choosing not to pay for the high-profile fixture and attend the game.
Perhaps Peter Schmeichel was unaware about the ticket prices for the European encounter and if he did, he would perhaps retract his candid admission.
