Phil Foden and Erling Haaland have come up trumps for Manchester City in successive games against Manchester United and Napoli.
The Manchester City duo linked up excellently for the hosts’ opening goal, with Foden setting the Norwegian up with an impeccable lobbed pass for him to head into the back of the net.
Erling Haaland’s headed finish was magnificent and in the process, he became the fastest player in Champions League history to score 50 goals by reaching the milestone in just 49 games.
Haaland is becoming a leader this season and it seems like he is determined to do his talking on the pitch.
Phil Foden says Erling Haaland’s goalscoring records may remain unbeaten after Man City vs Napoli
For the 25-year-old’s teammates at Manchester City like Phil Foden, witnessing the star striker look as lethal in front of goal as he has this campaign must be a delight.
Pep Guardiola tipped Haaland for captaincy one day as he continues to show that he can bear the responsibility of being City’s main man.
After Manchester City’s victory against Napoli, Foden reacted to Haaland’s latest Champions League record by telling TNT Sports that he doubts if any player will be able to surpass many of his goalscoring feats: “He seems to break every record. At his age, it’s unheard of, what he’s done.”
“I don’t think anyone will break the records he’s breaking if he carries on playing the way he’s playing. Unbelievable player.”
Erling Haaland now has more Champions League goals than his ‘favourite player’
It is hard to disagree with Foden’s claim as Haaland is making a habit of etching his name into the history books, with his feat against Napoli further indicating why the Manchester City number nine is a special player.
Haaland named Zlatan Ibrahimovic as his “favourite player” and he would have hoped to become a legendary goalscorer like him.

After his latest strike against Napoli, the former has more goals in the competition than Ibrahimovic, who bagged 49 in Europe’s elite competition.
Haaland is well and truly a phenomenon and judging by his blistering start to the season, he could have yet another campaign to remember.
