Phil Foden has posted a short message to his Instagram Story, after the Manchester City star recently underwent surgery to remove his appendix.

The England star is set for a spell on the sidelines, after having surgery in London after a bout of acute appendicitis.

Foden was forced to miss England’s game against Ukraine during the international break. This, after playing very briefly against Italy in the game before.

City said in an official statement that they did not know exactly how long he would be out for.

But his absence is undoubtedly a blow for City.

After a tricky time earlier this season, Foden recently scored goals against Bournemouth and Newcastle United. He also helped himself to a couple of goals against Bristol City in the FA Cup.

He was starting to come back into form. But he’ll now be forced to watch on from the sidelines for a little while.

Luckily for Pep Guardiola, he has two other wingers bang in form right now. Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez were both outstanding against Liverpool on Saturday.

Last night, Foden checked in with fans on Instagram. He wrote the six-word message on his Story ‘Can’t wait for this feeling again’.

His post features a picture of him celebrating a goal.

It is well documented how much Foden just absolutely loves playing football.

The 22-year-old lives for the sport and it must be extremely frustrating for him to be sitting out right now. And it was just as he was coming back into form, too.

It follows a niggling foot injury Foden was nursing earlier this season. So 2022/23 really has been a bit of a frustrating one for the Stockport-born starlet.

Hopefully he is able to recover as quickly as possible and he will be able to have a say in the Premier League title race.

City need to be able to call on him.
