Phil Foden sent a congratulatory message to Jacob Wright, who made his debut for Manchester City against Huddersfield Town.

Foden commented on the 18-year-old’s post-match Instagram post, who kickstarted his senior career for City as a late substitute during his side’s 5-0 victory on Sunday.

The youngster replaced Mateo Kovacic in the 75th minute to take his place as the Sky Blues’ lone defensive midfielder.

After the line-ups for both sides emerged an hour before the contest, Wright became a talking point as he was named on Manchester City’s bench.

The youngster has not generated that much of a buzz, despite impressing at the youth level for the Sky Blues.

However, Pep Guardiola chose to hand Jacob Wright his debut for Manchester City against Huddersfield and after the contest, Phil Foden sent him a brief congratulatory message.

“Well deserved, bro”, he commented on the emerging English midfielder’s post on Instagram.

Jacob Wright must be over the moon to get such recognition from a top player

After having played for Manchester City at first-team level for the first time in his career against Huddersfield, to also be congratulated by Phil Foden must have been a special feeling for Jacob Wright.

For starters, any player that emerges from City’s academy must look up to the five-time Premier League winner.

After biding his time in the senior side, Foden has gone on to become a vital cog in the side, playing a crucial role in his side’s rousing success during the Guardiola era while developing into a world-class player.

As a result, Jacob Wright, who also may have been inspired by Phil Foden’s rise now seems to have a supporter of his in him.

If Wright follows in his countryman’s footsteps, he too could make the grade at the Etihad Stadium.
