Manchester City are currently without a number of key players due to injury – but there has been a positive update on Jack Grealish.

The England international has missed Manchester City’s wins over Fulham, West Ham and Red Star Belgrade as a result of a thigh problem.

So, what is the latest on Jack Grealish at Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the £270,000-a-week man is closing in on a return to action, after being spotted in training photos posted by Manchester City earlier on Wednesday.

Grealish could be seen alongside Rico Lewis and Kalvin Phillips in a training session, seemingly a full contact one rather than a light individual session, which suggests he is very close to regaining 100% fitness.

You can see the picture of Manchester City’s No.10 below.

Unfortunately – despite the good news about Grealish – there are no similarly positive updates on Manchester City’s other injured stars.

Kevin De Bruyne remains absent until 2024 after undergoing surgery on a hamstring problem, while John Stones and Mateo Kovacic are also still sidelined.

Bernardo Silva has now joined the aforementioned players in the treatment room too, after being forced off in the 44th minute of Tuesday’s 3-1 UEFA Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade.

Jack Grealish should be fired up ahead of Manchester City return

Competition can bring out the best in footballers, and Grealish certainly has a fight on his hands right now after Jeremy Doku shone in his absence.

The Belgian made a real impact out on the left wing while the 28-year-old recovered from injury, and he arguably deserves to keep the spot after impressing against Fulham, West Ham and Red Star Belgrade.

If Pep Guardiola does opt to keep Doku in the starting XI, then Manchester City fans could soon see a fired up Grealish, keen to reclaim his place.
