Dani Olmo – who Pep Guardiola wants as a Bernardo Silva replacement at Manchester City – is now likely to join Barcelona in 2024.

That is according to BILD.

So, what is the situation involving Dani Olmo and Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to Mundo Deportivo – Guardiola views the Spain international as the ideal replacement for Silva, and planned to make a move if the Portugal international left the Etihad Stadium during the summer.

The Manchester City No.20 ended up staying put, as did Olmo at RB Leipzig.

Now – however – the Spaniard looks set to join Barcelona in 2024.

BILD believe Olmo has a release clause in his contract at RB Leipzig which becomes active in 2024.

It allows the 25-year-old to depart for a sum in the region of €65m (£56m).

The German news outlet add that Olmo is highly likely to leave for Barcelona if the Spanish giants show they are able to trigger this release clause, as the Spaniard himself is desperate for a move to the Camp Nou.

So far this season, the Terrassa-born attacker has scored five goals in four appearances, while also providing one assist.

Manchester City could still sign Dani Olmo

All hope is not lost yet for those of you keen to see Olmo at the Etihad Stadium.

BILD do not mention whether Barcelona are in a position to pay the £56m release clause, a sum which Manchester City are surely able to spend given the club’s financial power.

Therefore, if things collapse for Barcelona in terms of financing the deal, don’t be surprised to see Guardiola swoop in with a concrete bid for Olmo – a player he seems to admire greatly.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as the RB Leipzig No.7 seems destined to leave Germany in 2024.
