Player is now worth £48m more than Manchester City sold him for after stunning performances

Manchester City fans have heard plenty about Cole Palmer since Chelsea lured him to west London on transfer deadline day in September.

The 21-year-old has become a full England international after leaving the Etihad Stadium, and is arguably already the best player at Stamford Bridge.

Now – in a new document – Manchester City fans have been told how much Cole Palmer is currently worth after his stunning start to life at Chelsea

Cole Palmer value soars

Well, Manchester City received £42.5m for the City Football Academy graduate in September.

Now – according to the CIES Football Observatory – Palmer is worth €104.9m (£90.5m) following his superb performances for Chelsea.

The Chelsea No.20 has scored eight goals – while also providing four assists – in 16 Premier League appearances under Mauricio Pochettino.

That means Palmer is now worth £48m more than Manchester City sold him for.

Of course, that does not reflect well on the Citizens, although context is important here.

Chelsea’s move for Palmer came very late in the summer transfer window, and with the attacking midfielder himself keen on the switch – as confirmed by Pep Guardiola himself – Manchester City had little choice but to let him go, and also little time to haggle with the west Londoners.

One thing that was a surprise to us – and Chelsea – however, was the lack of any sell on clause or buyback option being inserted into the deal.

Silver lining for Manchester City

One huge positive to take from Palmer’s sale is the fact his £42.5m fee goes down as pure profit for Manchester City in terms of Financial Fair Play – given his status as an academy graduate.

Presumably, Manchester City’s finances were already quite strong anyway, but if not, this should give the Citizens more wriggle room in the transfer market, either this month or in the summer.
