Yaya Toure – who left Manchester City in 2018 – has now started working with Roberto Mancini.

The news was announced on the 40-year-old’s official Twitter account.

So, what is the situation involving Yaya Toure and Roberto Mancini? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, two Manchester City icons have now reunited.

Toure – who played 132 games under Mancini – was working as Assistant Manager at Standard Liege, after ending his playing career with Qingdao Huanghai in 2019.

Now – however – the Ivorian has teamed up with the Italian to help take charge of the Saudi Arabia national team.

Writing about his decision to leave Standard Liege, Toure wrote: “Although it was short, positive memories of my time at Standard Liege will never leave me – I now have a special bond with this great club. The fans are incredible. Their passion for their club is unbelievable. They welcomed me into their club and I am thankful to them for this.”

Mancini and the man from Bouaké won the Premier League, FA Cup and Community Shield during their time together at the Etihad Stadium.

Toure scored 28 goals in those 132 outings under the 58-year-old’s guidance, while also providing 23 assists.

Manchester City fans must feel old after hearing Yaya Toure news

Toure is now working as Mancini’s assistant, and Sergio Aguero has retired – as has David Silva.

Furthermore, Vincent Kompany is now in charge of Burnley, while Micah Richards has become a punditry sensation.

That special 2011/12 Premier League title win cemented these players – and the rest of Mancini’s squad – into Manchester City folklore.

However, it doesn’t half make us feel old to hear that Toure is now working with Mancini – where does the time go?

It just goes to show that Manchester City fans shouldn’t take this current crop for granted.

As fun as it is to watch the likes of Erling Haaland and Phil Foden run riot, it won’t be forever, so supporters must cherish these moments under Pep Guardiola.
