Alan Shearer has raved over ‘phenomenal talent’ Erling Haaland – and says the Manchester City superstar will ‘probably’ end up beating his all-time Premier League goals record.
The Norwegian was back at it again on Saturday, scoring a hat-trick against Fulham.
That was his seventh treble for City already.
Haaland is now up to six Premier League goals for the season – the exact same number had at the same stage last season.
And Haaland was spoken about on the latest podcast episode of The Rest Is Football…
Alan Shearer lauds Erling Haaland after hat-trick against Fulham
One of the topics this week discussed by Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Alana Shearer was hat-tricks.

There were three scored in the Premier League over the weekend. Heung-min Son and Evan Ferguson both also hit trebles for Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton respectively.
The trio started talking about Haaland though, and Shearer just couldn’t hide his admiration for the 23-year-old.
When Lineker jokingly put it to him that Haaland would beat his record in ‘about five seasons’, Shearer said: “Probably will! If he’s here that long. Phenomenal. I mean it’s no surprise, with the number of chances they create. I know he’s got to stick them away and he’s playing with really good players. But phenomenal talent.
“He’ll get more hat-tricks this season, he’ll get more hat-tricks next season. Wherever he’s going to play his football, as long as he stays fit. What a talent, he’s unbelievable.”
Erling Haaland will smash Shearer’s record if he stays
Haaland – who also came in for praise from Garth Crooks for his hat-trick – is poised to break Shearer’s record if he gets lucky enough with injuries.
So far at City, Haaland has been able to avoid any serious knocks.
That has been pleasantly surprising considering that was not the case when he was at Borussia Dortmund.
Haaland is just a machine.

He is an incredible player with a truly remarkable mentality.
He will surpass Shearer’s record if he can steer clear of any major injuries and also, of course, if he stays at City long-term.
He does seem to absolutely love it at the club, and long may he feel that way.
