Edin Dzeko has claimed that Manchester City are the best team in the world right now.
The striker, who joined the Manchester club back in 2011 and spent over five years as a City player, will be facing his old side in the Champions League final on Saturday.
As he and the rest of his Inter Milan teammates prepare to take on the Citizens, the 37-year-old has shared his thoughts on the challenge that lies ahead for the Italian side.
Dzeko hails City
Speaking to his former City teammate, Joleon Lescott, on BT Sport, Dzeko had this to say about the upcoming showdown against Pep Guardiola’s side in Istanbul.
He said: “We know that we are going to play against probably the best team in the world. The whole team has to do more than 100% but we are tough as well.
“Being in the final of the Champions League against my club, City, it’s a big thing for me. I’m looking forward to it because I will have a lot of fans in the stadium on both sides so I cannot wish for more.”

Having scored 72 goals in 189 appearances for the Manchester club, the Bosnian is definitely someone the current crop of defenders in Guardiola’s team will have to be wary of if he plays in the match.
Bearing in mind how City have secured their fifth Premier League title in six years as well as the FA Cup in recent weeks, this shows why Dzeko thinks Inter will have a tough test ahead of them.
However, as the former City star said, Simeone Inzaghi’s outfit will provide a challenge for the English champions as they have also got their hands on two pieces of silverware this season, winning the Italian Cup and the Italian Super Cup.
With all of that in mind, it’s clear that even though Guardiola’s side head into the game as favourites, Inter are not going to roll over for them and will definitely put up a solid fight on the day.
Therefore, the City players will need to make sure they know what the best way to play against their opponents and secure the victory.
