“Problem”: Joleon Lescott reacts to what he saw before Manchester City’s 3-1 win last night

Joleon Lescott could not believe what he saw before Manchester City recorded a 3-1 win over BSC Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League last night.

The 41-year-old was speaking alongside Joe Cole on TNT Sports.

So, what did Joleon Lescott say? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the man who made 160 appearances for Manchester City did not approve of his old side’s pre-match UEFA Champions League cardigans.

In Europe so far this season, Manchester City players have worn navy cardigans with an armband on the left sleeve which displays the club’s name, while each player also has their name and number on the back.

While watching footage of the Manchester City squad emerge from the team bus, Lescott said: “When it doesn’t look good on Jack Grealish, then I’m like, yeah, there’s a problem.”

Cole added: “Unacceptable, to be honest. I’m not being funny right, the gaffer got out first and he looks like the milk tray man – he looks brilliant. He looks round and I don’t care how many trebles you win guys, you got to sort the gear out. It’s horrendous.”

We didn’t think the cardigans looked that bad – although the jury appears to be out.

Cardigans are a lucky charm for Manchester City

Manchester City should ignore the likes of Lescott, who recently leapt to defend Erling Haaland – the cardigans are turning into something of a lucky charm in Europe.

The treble winners are yet to lose a game in European competition this season.

Manchester City reigned supreme in the UEFA Super Cup with a win over Sevilla, and have since achieved a perfect start to life in Group G up against Red Star Belgrade, RB Leipzig and BSC Young Boys.

If Manchester City go on to successfully defend the UEFA Champions League this season, we would expect the cardigans to become a highly popular piece of fashion on the blue side of Manchester.
