Manchester City have brought just one new face to the club during the current summer transfer window.
After securing a deal to sign Savinho from Troyes back in July, City have not got their 2024/25 season underway.
However, the summer transfer window isn’t set to expire until the end of the month, meaning Pep Guardiola’s side still have some time left to add some new players to their squad.
In fact, the Blues are reportedly readying to welcome another name to the club in the coming days, who wouldn’t necessarily be seen as a new face.

Andy Townsend assesses Ilkay Gundogan’s reported return to Man City
Before it was reported that City have agreed a deal to sign Ilkay Gundogan from Barcelona, Andy Townsend had this to say on talkSPORT (21/8 9:50) on the prospect of seeing the midfielder make a return to the Manchester club.
He said: “He’s a smart footballer. He’s not the quickest but he arrives on cue to apply a finishing touch.
“He’s got a pass, he’s always chipping in with goals. I hardly remember him missing months on end at City.
“He’s in there and he’s available and he’ll play off one side or he’ll play deep or can play as a 10. He’s got so many boxes that he ticks so why wouldn’t you have him back?”
Gundogan is a top signing for City
Having spent seven years at City between 2016 and 2023 where he scored 60 goals and delivered 38 assists across 304 appearances, it’s safe to say that Gundogan knows all about what it takes to play for Guardiola’s side.
During his debut season at Barcelona, the 33-year-old appeared in 51 games across all competitions, bagging five goals and providing 14 assists.
With the German clearly still able to play a prominent role in a top European side chasing multiple trophies and delivering regular goal contributions from midfield, Townsend is right to highlight how many boxes a move for Gundogan ticks for City.
