Neil Lennon lauded Micah Hamilton for scoring on his Manchester City debut against Red Star Belgrade.

While the youngster was reported to be training with the first-team and was included in the travelling squad, it was a surprise to see him get a start in Belgrade.

However, the teenager stepped up to the plate, skipping past a defender before dispatching the ball into the back of the net.

“It is a great story. Micah Hamilton has been at the club since he was nine and now, he is on the big stage with the big boys and has delivered”, he told BBC Sport about the Manchester City wonderkid.

“It is a magnificent goal. He gave the goalkeeper no chance.”

Micah Hamilton did what so many young players struggle to

Neil Lennon is right to praise Micah Hamilton, not only for his goal but for how self-assured he looked in a Manchester City shirt against Red Star Belgrade.

Often, most young players tend to play within themselves and keep it safe on the ball.

Understandably so, considering they are playing at the highest level for the first time in their careers.

But Micah Hamilton did not seem timid in any sense of the word, as he expressed himself from minute one.

This alone merits a lot of praise for the highly-rated winger but to add to that, Hamilton bagged a sensational solo goal to give his side the lead away from home.

The Englishman will likely remember this clash for years to come, having grabbed his chance with both hands and likely made a serious impression on Pep Guardiola and those tuning in to watch him.
