Pundit says ‘sensational’ £47m Man City player was actually his Man of the Match vs Bournemouth

Don Hutchison believes Manchester City defender John Stones was the Man of the Match in his side’s 1-0 win against AFC Bournemouth.

After the contest, former Club Brugge manager Scott Parker claimed that managing the Englishman must be a “dream” for Pep Guardiola.

Izzy Christiansen revealed that alongside Scott Parker, she was “laughing” during the game at how all-encompassing the 29-year-old was against the Cherries.

Don Hutchison says Manchester City colossus John Stones was the Man of the Match against Bournemouth

After putting in a remarkable display against Brentford, John Stones proved he is ready for the Premier League title run-in by shining against Andoni Iraola’s side as well.

Shaun Goater’s recent claim was perhaps proven correct as he believes that no centre-half in world football can replicate the £250,000-a-week (Sport Rac) man’s signature hybrid role quite like he does.

With Manchester City closing down the gap between themselves and Liverpool to just one point after beating Bournemouth, Don Hutchison heaped praise on John Stones.

“I thought John Stones was Man of the Match today. I thought he was sensational. He just plays everywhere. He plays as an eight but he operates, sometimes in behind or down the side of [Erling] Haaland and on the other side where [Bernardo] Silva is”, he said [via ESPN UK].

It was either John Stones or Phil Foden

Ultimately, it is impossible to argue with Don Hutchison as Manchester City centre-back John Stones was arguably the best player on the pitch against Bournemouth.

If not the £47 million (Sky Sports) man, some may claim that it was Phil Foden but apart from the pair, no other player stood out as much as them.

The English pair showcased once again why they are technical phenoms as their mastery with the ball at their feet is what primarily allowed City to dominate proceedings, especially in the first half of the encounter.

One could also argue that apart from Stones and Foden, not many other Sky Blues players managed to maintain the standard of their performances across both halves of the game.

Thankfully for John Stones and Phil Foden, their sublime showings were backed up by an important victory for the Premier League champions.
