Kalvin Phillips has not been a success at Manchester City since his move from Leeds United, and the England international midfielder has now been urged to consider leaving the Etihad Stadium.

TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has said that Kalvin Phillips should consider leaving Manchester City at the end of the season.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker has noted that if Phillips does not get regular playing time in the coming weeks and months, then he should seriously consider leaving City in the summer of 2024.

Kalvin Phillips urged to leave Manchester City

Bent has urged the 27-year-old England international to make the most of the chances he could get now due to the suspension of Rodri.

The pundit said on talkSPORT: “Now, if I am Kalvin Phillips, I am using these two games to play as well as I can, to do everything I can, and then hopefully with a bit of luck, get more game time.

“But, come the end of the season, he has got decisions to make, if it doesn’t go well.”

Kalvin Phillips should consider Manchester City exit

In my view, Kalvin Phillips should consider leaving Manchester City in the summer of 2024.

I do not think that Phillips is going to make himself a regular in Pep Guardiola’s first team anytime soon.

Rodri is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

It is hard to see Guardiola play Phillips ahead of the Spain international midfielder unless Rodri is suspended, injured or needs rest.

I sympathise with Phillips’s situation.

We all know how good he is.

After all, Phillips was a star for Leeds United in the Championship and in the Premier League.

It is hard for any player to do well if he does not get a run of games.

I think that the £150,000-a-week (Spotrac) midfielder has to consider his City future next summer for the good of his career.
