“I’ve got Ruben Dias, big fan of his. I’ve got actually two Man City players. I’ve also got [Josko] Gvardiol”, he told The Optus Sport Football Podcast.

On the same episode, Mark Schwarzer also picked Manuel Akanji in his side, describing him as “absolutely brilliant” since his move to the Etihad Stadium last summer.

The youngster’s performance against Chelsea should not take away from how solid he has been at Manchester City

Thomas Sorensen is right to have picked Josko Gvardiol in his XI, considering how stellar he has been for Manchester City.

Of course, against Chelsea, like most of his side, the Croatian defender did not cover himself in glory.

Notably for Raheem Sterling’s goal, the former RB Leipzig colossus’ body shape was all over the place.

But apart from that game, Gvardiol is yet to have erred in a Sky Blues shirt.

If anything, it seems like the ex-Dinamo Zagreb talent has emerged as Pep Guardiola’s starting left-back, taking Nathan Ake’s place in the side, who was crucial to Manchester City winning the treble last season.

This indicates how impressive Josko Gvardiol has been since making his way to the Premier League and is only expected to get better and better as he continues to hone his craft in the blue side of Manchester.
