Raheem Sterling has named Leroy Sane as one of the quickest players he has played with apart from Kyle Walker.
During Manchester City’s iconic “Centurions” season, Sterling and Sane were the side’s go-to wingers on either side, ripping teams to shreds with their frightening pace, phenomenal dribbling and directness, which also made them a treat to watch for neutrals.
To this day, the wing pairing is discussed as one of the most devastating duos in Premier League history.
Raheem Sterling says Leroy Sane is one of the fastest players he has ever played with
At the time, there was constant debate around who was the fastest out of Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Kyle Walker, who may have been the three most rapid players in English football alongside Adama Traore.
In an interview with Manchester City’s official YouTube channel, Walker claimed that “it’s a nightmare” to mark Sterling in training due to his pace and power while describing Sane’s style of running as “beautiful” and claimed that he could give him a run for his money.
Now, Raheem Sterling has also named Leroy Sane as one of the two fastest players he has ever played with, aside from Kyle Walker.

“Leroy Sane”, he told STATSports during an interview.
“Leroy or Armando [Broja]. I reckon Armando’s there with Kyle [Walker] as the quickest.”
Leroy Sane used to glide past opponents
It is hard to disagree with Raheem Sterling about Leroy Sane, who would burst past players without breaking a sweat.
The German international’s tremendous pace also allowed him to run in behind defences and get on the end of assists from the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva at Manchester City.
However, unlike Kyle Walker or Raheem Sterling, the 28-year-old, who left the Etihad Stadium in 2020 had a running style that seemed quite effortless, as he used to glide past opponents like a gazelle instead of using everything he had in the tank to run past them.
Leroy Sane’s acceleration was simply otherworldly and his unique athleticism is perhaps genetic, as his father was a former footballer and his mother was a Bronze medal-winning gymnast at the Olympics.
