Journalist Dean Jones has suggested that Manchester City could land a transfer deal for Josko Gvardiol as well as Mateo Kovacic and Declan Rice this summer.

Earlier this month, it was reported by Fabrizio Romano that the Citizens are progressing to agree personal terms with the RB Leipzig defender over a potential move to the Etihad Stadium before attempting to negotiate a transfer fee with the German club.

As well as that, the Manchester club have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Kovacic from Chelsea for £30m and are looking to make a bid to sign Rice from West Ham United.

This has led to one journalist sharing his thoughts on these particular transfer stories and what the likelihood is of City signing all three this summer.

Speaking in a recent video on The Football Terrace YouTube channel, Jones said this about City’s potential transfer haul of Kovacic, Rice and Gvardiol.

He said: “Man City having the signings of Gvardiol, Kovacic and Declan Rice for next [season] is a pretty scary prospect, but it’s also a pretty real prospect with the way that it’s opening up right now.”

After emerging through the ranks at Dinamo Zagreb, the centre-back joined Leipzig back in the 2021 summer transfer window.

Since then, the 21-year-old has made 87 appearances for his current club across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing three assists along the way.

Having ended his latest Bundesliga campaign with the highest passing accuracy percentage (89.1%) in the Leipzig squad out of players that attempted more than two passes, this could be a factor in why City want to sign him, especially considering how four of City’s defenders ended up in the top 10 list for most accurate passing in the Premier League last season.
