Paul Dickov has said that Manchester City have been very impressed with Mateo Kovacic so far.
The Manchester club made the midfielder their first incoming signing of the previous summer transfer window as they brought him in from Chelsea on a four-year deal worth £30m.
Despite still being in the early stages of his debut season at the Etihad Stadium, the Croatian has already been assessed by one pundit and former City player who has a very close connection to the club.
Dickov says Kovacic has impressed City

Speaking on talkSPORT, Dickov had this to say about Kovacic and his time at the club so far.
He said: “Kovacic has really impressed everybody since he’s been there.”
So far this season, the 29-year-old has started seven of the eight games he’s appeared in across all competitions but has yet to score his first goal or even provide an assist for his new side.
Despite seeing his side lose to Wolves last weekend, Pep Guardiola described Kovacic as an “exceptional” player, which makes it easy to see why the club were so keen to get him through the door so quickly into the previous summer transfer window.

With five Premier League appearances under his belt in this campaign, the Croatia international has racked up the fourth-highest total of progressive passes (29) in the City squad, as well as having the joint-second-highest number of tackles won (7).
This highlights how forward-thinking he is in possession as well as how capable he is of winning the ball back for his side when needed.
Moving forward, if the midfielder can deliver strong performances on a regular basis and start to add some goals and assists to his tally, he’ll definitely be seen as a top signing for the club and start to see external praise come his way in addition to Dickov’s point about the club being impressed with him.
