Manchester City have a significant number of international veterans in their squad.

In fact, City had more players (14) selected to represent their countries in the 2024 European Championship over the summer than any other club in the Premier League.

The final of the tournament saw four players from Pep Guardiola’s ranks feature as Spain beat England 2-1.

Now though, one of the Manchester club’s more experienced players has found himself being praised by one of his international teammates.

Reece James hails ‘elite’ Kyle Walker

When asked to build his ultimate England XI for a post shared on the official Three Lions website, James had this to say about Kyle Walker after picking him in the team.

He said: “His all-round quality as a player and person is at an elite level. He’s been at the top for a number of years and he’s a great professional.”

Walker is one of the best in history

James isn’t the only player at a London club to share their praise for the defender this year as Jarrod Bowen said back in July that Walker is one of the best right-backs ever.

City signed Walker from Tottenham Hotspur for £50m back in the 2017 summer transfer window.

Since then, the full-back has gone on to make 301 appearances for the Citizens across all competitions, lifting multiple trophies along the way.

On the international stage, the defender has made 90 senior appearances for England, seven of which came during the recent Euros where Walker ended up being one of the three outfield players to feature in every minute of action in the tournament for the Three Lions.

The City captain has appeared in eight England games with James, who certainly knows all about what Walker is like as a player.

Now that the Chelsea star has shared his recognition and admiration for what the 34-year-old has done on the pitch throughout his illustrious career for club and country, this further strengthens Walker’s status as one of the best full-backs in the history of English football.
