Former Juventus president Giuseppe Marotta has admitted he has a lot of regrets about not signing Erling Haaland a few years ago.
The 23-year-old is now at Manchester City, having joined last year from Borussia Dortmund.
City paid a reported £51 million for the Norwegian, who has ripped it up in English football since his arrival.
Haaland scored 52 goals last season and broke a host of records along with the way.
Everyone knew he would score many goals, and that is exactly what he’s done.
Haaland is a world-class talent, and City are very lucky to have such a superstar in their squad.
But perhaps his career path might have been different had Marotta not been contending with economic struggles at Juve…
Giuseppe Marotta regrets not signing Erling Haaland as Manchester City reap the rewards
Marotta has been speaking about missing out on targets while he was at Juventus.

Interestingly, Juve did actually invite Haaland to watch a game of theirs in Turin.
Juve intended to sign him, but then loan him out. Haaland reportedly rejected this proposal.
In 2021 Marotta – who left Juve five years ago – bemoaned Juve’s failure to sign Haaland, and the 66-year-old has now double down on his previously comments.
He said (Il Bianconero) “The regret was not taking Haaland at Juventus when he was at Molde. For economic reasons, we couldn’t do that kind of operation.”
Juventus’ loss is Man City’s gain
It is always interesting to hear people come out and say their club really wanted to sign a player, and that player then goes on to become a superstar.
For City, it is such a relief that Haaland never made that move to Juventus.
Had he done so, he may well not have ended up at the Etihad today.
Haaland’s career path has been perfect.

He started off at Molde and then made a great move to Salzburg, which is where he really started to have people taking note of him.
His next move to Dortmund was absolutely perfect. This was a club renowned for honing the talents of potential gems, and Haaland scored a bucket load of goals.
He then joined City as a world-class player, and he has been remain world-class to this day.
