Gary Lineker has now reacted after Erling Haaland broke a Premier League record at Manchester City.
The 62-year-old made the comments when writing on X (previously known as Twitter).
So, what did Gary Lineker write about Erling Haaland? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the Norway international scored in the 27th minute to put Manchester City 1-0 up against Liverpool.
In doing so, Haaland became the quickest player in history to score 50 Premier League goals, hitting the landmark in just 48 appearances.
Andy Cole was the previous record holder, hitting 50 Premier League goals in 65 outings.
Therefore, the Norwegian has not only broken the record, but has completely shattered it – in all honestly, it may never be done faster.
After seeing the 23-year-old find the net once again, Lineker wrote: “The remarkable Erling Haaland scores his 50th Premier League goal in just 48 appearances. That’s some going.”

Haaland has now scored 18 goals in just 19 appearances this season.
In total, the Leeds-born striker has netted 70 goals in 72 games for Manchester City, which is a quite phenomenal return.
Erling Haaland finally scores for Manchester City against Liverpool in the Premier League
There are few sides around who have managed to avoid conceding to Haaland in the Premier League – Liverpool being one of them, before today.
Haaland has previously failed to score against Liverpool at Anfield as Manchester City suffered a 1-0 defeat back in October 2022, before missing his side’s 4-1 win over the Reds at the Etihad Stadium in April with a groin injury.

Now – however – the Norwegian has his goal against Jürgen Klopp’s side in Premier League action, finishing expertly beyond Alisson after seamlessly collecting a brilliant pass from Nathan Ake.
Some felt Manchester City would beat Liverpool without Haaland – including Roy Keane – although he showed exactly why he is one of Guardiola’s most important players with a vital contribution today.
