Reported Manchester City transfer target, Benjamin Pavard, has been told he is allowed to leave Bayern Munich this summer.

Back in April, it was claimed that City have an interest in the defender, as do Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Now though, some extra behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding the Frenchman and what the summer could look like for him.

Pavard allowed to leave Bayern this summer

In a recent Twitter post, journalist Florian Plettenberg said this on the matter.

He said: “Update #Pavard: As reported and now confirmed: He will be allowed to leave Bayern immediately. Bayern demands a transfer fee of €30-40m [£25m-£34m]. Real, Barcelona, ManCity, ManUtd and more clubs are in!”

Since arriving at Bayern back in the 2019 summer transfer window, the 27-year-old has gone on to make 162 appearances for the German club across all competitions, chipping in with 12 goals and 12 assists along the way.

Having made 43 appearances for his current side throughout their latest season, the defender featured as a centre-back and as a right-back, highlighting the versatility he has to offer.

Bearing in mind how four of City’s five current predominant centre-backs are capable of playing in other positions such as full-back and defensive-midfield, this shows why they apparently have an interest in adding Pavard to their ranks.

Across his 30 Bundesliga appearances this season, the France international ended the campaign with the highest average of interceptions per game (1.5) at the club, as well as the second-highest average of tackles (2.3) and clearances per game (2.5).

This further highlights what Pavard has in his locker and what he’d be able to deliver for whatever club may look to sign him this summer.

In our view, if one of City’s current defensive options end up leaving the Etihad Stadium over the summer, they should do all they can to secure the Bayern star’s signature.
