Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly decided to walk away from securing a potential transfer deal for Manchester City target Levi Colwill.
Last week, it was reported by the Evening Standard that City are keeping an eye on Colwill, who Brighton were willing to spend £40m to lure away from Chelsea, as he has yet to decide if his future will be at Stamford Bridge or not.
Now though, the Manchester club have been handed a potential boost to their chances of being able to land a possible deal for the 20-year-old.
Brighton walk away from Colwill

According to a recent report from 90 Min, the Seagulls have decided to move away from making a potential deal for Colwill, who spent last season on loan at the south coast club, and focus on signing Ajax defender, Calvin Bassey, instead.
During his time with Roberto De Zerbi’s side, the defender made 22 senior appearances for the club, 17 of which came in the Premier League.
Recent weeks have seen the centre-back complete the full 90 minutes in three of England’s U21 European Championship matches, keeping a clean sheet in all three.

In fact, his performances in the tournament have led to talent scout, Jacek Kulig, describing Colwill as a “giant” on the pitch.
With all of that in mind, we feel that if the Englishman decides he doesn’t want to stay at Chelsea beyond this summer, City should do whatever they can to get him to the Etihad Stadium.
Now that Brighton are out of the picture, this could well give City a clearer path to launching a possible move for the youngster.
