Riyad Mahrez is set to be offered a big-money deal by Saudi-based club Al Ahli in an effort to get the winger to leave Manchester City this summer.
Earlier this week, it was claimed that the Saudi club have a concrete interest in signing the Algerian from the Citizens, but will have to stump up a suitable transfer fee to get City to sell.
Now though, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding what the Saudi side are willing to give the winger to try and convince him to join.
Mahrez set to be offered big money to leave City
According to a recent report from ESPN, Al Ahli are willing to offer Mahrez a contract worth €100 million plus bonuses to leave the Manchester club.
The report also adds that a delegation including the Saudi Arabia club president Waleed Muaath has been in London this week to discuss the possibility of striking deals with several players including Mahrez, who has apparently become frustrated at his lack of playing time recently.
City signed the attacker back in 2018 from Leicester City in a deal worth a reported fee of £60m.
Since then, the 32-year-old has made 236 appearances for the Citizens across all competitions, scoring 78 goals and providing 59 assists along the way, winning numerous domestic trophies.
This season has seen Mahrez make 47 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, starting 36 of them, scoring 15 times and providing 13 assists along the way.
Despite being a prominent figure in the team for City’s last leg of their latest league campaign, the winger hasn’t started a Champions League game since their 1-1 draw away at RB Leipzig and didn’t feature in the recent FA Cup final win over Manchester United.
Therefore, regardless of Guardiola calling him a “brilliant” player back in April following his hat-trick against Sheffield United in the semi-final of the FA Cup, if Mahrez were open to starting a new chapter in his career, taking this reported offer that looks set to come his way could be a very tempting prospect for him.
