It has been reported that RB Leipzig are now ready to kickstart discussions over a transfer involving Manchester City target Josko Gvardiol.

This report has surfaced on BILD, just two months after it was claimed that the Bundesliga side had refused to sell the Croatian international even for a record-breaking fee.

With the same report from March also claiming that Josko Gvardiol has been identified as a transfer ‘priority’ due to Aymeric Laporte’s potential exit, Manchester City may be set to sign their man after all.

Manchester City could now wrap up Josko Gvardiol transfer

A month ago, a report also revealed that Laporte was ‘frustrated’ by being relegated to the status of a mere squad player, as he has become the club’s fifth-choice central defender this season.

What’s more is that it was claimed that both the club and the player were ready to part ways in the summer.

It seems as if Manchester City could well line up a replacement for him in Josko Gvardiol, as RB Leipzig are believed to be ‘ready to talk’ to potentially sanction a transfer with any interested club.

However, it has been clarified that the German club will only start discussions to sell their prized asset well in excess of £89 million.

Josko Gvardiol would be an incredible replacement for the exit-linked Spaniard

If Manchester City do pull off a transfer for Gvardiol, he would be the perfect successor to Aymeric Laporte.

Left-footed, elegant in possession, capable of picking out a pass and driving with the ball, it seems as if Laporte himself is being described when breaking down Gvardiol’s game.

With the RB Leipzig defender just being 21 years of age as well, his ceiling is sky-high.

Considering Josko Gvardiol has prior experience of playing in a back three as well as at left-back, he would be perfect in City’s current setup.

Under Pep Guardiola’s keen eye in particular, the Sky Blues could move on from the loss of Aymeric Laporte by bringing in Josko Gvardiol.
