Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly waiting on Bernardo Silva’s decision about his Manchester City future before making a move to sign him this summer.
The midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium previously, most notably, last summer where he had Barcelona chasing after him.
Having now won the treble in his latest season with the Citizens, the subject of the 28-year-old’s future has come to the fore once again.
PSG waiting on Silva decision
A recent report from The Times said this on the situation surrounding Silva and his future.
“Paris Saint-Germain are waiting to hear if Silva intends to leave. The French club want to sign the Portuguese midfielder, who also has a contract extension on the table from City. Silva is a key player for [Pep] Guardiola, and he wants the 28-year-old to stay.
“The player is yet to make his mind up where his future lies. Barcelona are also monitoring the situation and are ready to move for the playmaker if he pushes to leave.”
Not long ago, it was reported that the French club see Silva, who City signed from Monaco back in 2017 for a fee of £43m, as a suitable replacement for Lionel Messi.
During his time at the Manchester club, the Portuguese international has scored 55 goals and delivered 59 assists in 306 appearances across all competitions, winning five Premier League titles along the way.
Having featured in all but six of City’s matches last season, this shows that he is clearly one of Guardiola’s most important players in the squad.
It also makes it safe to assume that if Silva were to leave this summer, it would be a big blow for everyone at the club.
With all of that in mind, we feel that it should be a top priority behind the scenes to convince the midfielder to continue his journey with City and stay where he is.
