Kylian Mbappe reportedly isn’t looking to join Manchester City for one particular reason.
Earlier this week, it was reported that the Paris Saint-Germain attacker had told the club he does not intend on renewing his current deal which is set to expire in the summer of 2024.
This has apparently led to the French club looking to offload the player this summer rather than lose him as a free agent next year.
Now, some extra details have emerged regarding Mbappe’s apparent preferences over which club he’d like to join next.
Mbappe not open to City move

A recent report from iNews had this to say on the matter and the particular reason why City are not on his radar:
“He speaks perfect English and there are a “number of clubs” he would look at, should the [Real] Madrid move not happen.
“A source added playing alongside Erling Haaland at Manchester City is not an idea he’d likely entertain, but going up against him in England, in a “battle of the stars”, would.”
The Manchester club signed Haaland during the previous summer transfer window from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth a reported fee of £51m.
Across his debut season with Pep Guardiola’s side, the striker scored 52 goals in 53 appearances, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and the Champions League.

With Mbappe having his own experience of scoring goals by finding the net 212 times in 260 appearances for PSG, it could be presumed that the prospect of him playing alongside Haaland would be a mouth-watering one.
However, with this claim suggesting the France international would rather be an opponent of the City star’s rather than a teammate suggests to us that he wouldn’t want to be in the same side as someone that could overshadow him in terms of scoring goals.
Moving forward, despite his goalscoring prowess, we feel that if the 24-year-old has no interest of joining City due to Haaland, the club should not bother trying to make it happen.
