Manchester City reportedly have an interest in signing Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.
The Citizens only recently brought an end to their latest season after securing the treble by winning the Champions League last weekend.
However, some behind-the-scenes details have come to light regarding one player the club have apparently had their eyes on for some time.
City made enquiry over Williams

According to a recent report from 90 Min, City and Newcastle United have enquired about Williams in recent months ahead of the summer transfer window, which has now officially opened for business.
The report also adds that Aston Villa have opened talks with Bilbao over a potential deal for the winger, who Arsenal are also looking at.
After scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists in 26 appearances for the Spanish club’s youth side, the 20-year-old made his senior debut for Bilbao back in April 2021.
Since then, the Spaniard has made 85 appearances for his current side, finding the net 12 times and supplying seven assists.

Across his latest La Liga campaign, where he scored six goals and delivered four assists in 36 games, the attacker racked up more progressive carries (174) and delivered more crosses (174) than any other player at the club.
In addition to that, Williams also racked up the second-highest total of shot-creating actions (105) and shots at goal (61) in the squad, further highlighting how much of a dangerous attacking player he is.
This also shows that he has started to live up to the description that talent scout, Jacek Kulig, gave him by labelling the winger as a “superb talent” back in 2021.
With all of that in mind, it’s easy to see why the Bilbao youngster has some big Premier League clubs looking at him.
Moving forward, with Villa apparently in talks with the club over a potential deal for Williams, City may have to act quickly if they want to lure him to the Etihad Stadium.
