Manchester City have reportedly taken a step further in their pursuit of landing a potential transfer deal for Declan Rice.
Earlier this week, it was reported that the Citizens had agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign Mateo Kovacic for £30m.
Now though, a fresh update has emerged regarding the Manchester club’s chase to sign another top-flight midfielder.
City in advanced talks over Rice deal

According to a recent Twitter post from journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, City are now in “advanced talks” with West Ham to sign Rice.
After Arsenal saw their second bid of £90m for the Englishman turned down by West Ham, it was reported that City are expected to make their own offer.
With the apparent imminent arrival of Kovacic on top of the club’s pursuit of the Hammer star, this suggests that Pep Guardiola is looking to freshen up his midfield.

Bearing in mind how Ilkay Gundogan has reportedly agreed a deal with Barcelona to join them as a free agent, this could be why City are keen to add some new faces to their squad that can operate in the middle of the pitch.
In terms of securing a possible deal for the 24-year-old, taking into account the sort of offers that Arsenal have made, it would be safe to assume that if the Citizens want to be the ones that sign Rice, it will take a significant financial offer to do so.
However, if Guardiola feels that the England international is the right option for his squad, we feel that the club should do all they can to get this deal done as soon as possible so they don’t risk losing him to Arsenal.
