It has been reported that Manchester City have had talks with Chelsea about signing Reece James.

This comes from Football Transfers, as Pep Guardiola’s men seem to be constantly striving to further strengthen their team.

Now, it seems like Manchester City have directed their attention towards signing Reece James from Chelsea.

Manchester City and Chelsea have talks over shock Reece James transfer

Branded as ‘world-class’ by the Evening Standard, the Englishman is considered by many as the best right-back in the world.

In fact, Raheem Sterling admitted (via the Independent) after signing for Chelsea that it has always been a ‘nightmare’ to have gone toe-to-toe with the 23-year-old in the past.

Now, it has been revealed that despite Kyle Walker, who was branded as ‘irreplaceable’ by Pep Guardiola penning a new contract until 2026 recently, Manchester City are ‘keeping tabs’ on Reece James’ future.

In fact, the Sky Blues are believed to have even had talks with the Champions League winner about a potential swoop.

While Chelsea remain uninterested in selling their club captain, their stance is not considered ‘solid’ as they may be open to a sale due to his increasing injury woes.

James would be an outrageous signing for the treble-winners

If the Blues let Reece James join Manchester City, they will only be bolstering what is one of the greatest teams of all time.

In terms of completeness, the Cobham graduate may be the standout right-back in world football as he is brilliant both offensively and defensively.

Due to James’ experience of playing in midfield in the past, he would also be the perfect candidate to operate in an inverted right-back role under Guardiola.

But it is undeniable that Reece James’ injuries are a red flag for any team in the world that aims to sign him and the same would likely be the case for the Sky Blues.
