Manchester City are reportedly making moves behind the scenes over a potential transfer deal for Declan Rice.
Despite reportedly being close to securing a £100m move to Arsenal from West Ham United this summer, some extra details have emerged regarding this particular transfer saga, with the Citizens now involved.
City exploring Rice move
In a recent Twitter post, David Ornstein said this on the situation.
He said: “EXCL: Arsenal have made opening offer to sign Declan Rice from West Ham. Tim Lewis & Karren Brady held talks at PL AGM (though Edu + Richard Garlick leading process). Man City now actively exploring own approach for 24yo.”

Bearing in mind how the England international has previously spoken about his hopes of playing in a side that compete for trophies domestically and in Europe, this would make City the perfect destination for him given how they’ve just won the treble.
However, with Arsenal having apparently made an offer for the 24-year-old, City may have to hope that West Ham don’t accept it before the European champions potentially come in with an offer of their own.

Either way, we feel that if the Manchester club are interested in adding Rice, who Pep Guardiola previously described as an “exceptional” player, to their squad, they may have to act quickly if they don’t want to miss out given how keen Arsenal seem to be.
Bearing in mind how the Citizens could well be losing Ilkay Gundogan this summer if he doesn’t sign a new contract, his potential exit would certainly pave the way for someone like Rice, who has plenty of Premier League experience under his belt, to come in as a possible replacement.
