Riyad Mahrez is reportedly set to make a decision about his future following Manchester City’s upcoming Champions League final against Inter Milan.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Saudi side Al-Ahli have an interest in signing the winger this summer and that City would only let him go for a suitable transfer fee.
Now though, some fresh details have emerged regarding what the future could look like for the Algerian.
Bid made for Mahrez
In a recent Twitter post, journalist Rudy Galetti said this on the matter.
He said: “Riyad #Mahrez rejected the first bid of #AlAhli two weeks ago. This morning the club presented a new huge offer: the response of the player is expected after the UEFA Champions League final.”
Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium back in 2018 from Leicester City in a deal worth a reported fee of £60m, the 32-year-old has made 236 appearances across all competitions, scoring 78 goals and providing 59 assists.
This season has seen the attacker make 47 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, starting 36 of them, finding the net 15 times and supplying 13 assists along the way.
Despite that, Mahrez hasn’t started or even featured in some of City’s biggest games in recent weeks and months.
For example, across the four games against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Champions League, the winger only came on to play the final 11 minutes of the second-leg clash against Real.
More recently, he didn’t feature at all in City’s 2-1 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup final, which suggests that the former Leicester star isn’t at the top of Guardiola’s pecking order at the moment.
With that in mind, it’d be understandable if Mahrez does end up contemplating making a move to Saudi for a new chapter in his career.
